Matthew Smith, who has no known address, was arrested Monday after East Fishkill police received a report of the theft of credit cards from a vehicle, police said.

Within a short time frame, it was determined that one of the stolen credit cards had been used at a couple of local gas stations. Smith was identified through surveillance video at each location, police said.

On Tuesday, Det. Greg Stanis and Lt. Jon Wood located Smith on Main Street in Poughkeepsie.

Smith was arrested and charged with two counts of grand larceny. During his arrest, police also discovered that he was wanted for a violation of probation.

He is being held without bail at the Dutchess County Jail pending a future court date.
